Aemetis Inc. has announced it is implementing the Microsoft Dynamics enterprise resource planning (ERP) system worldwide for all Aemetis operations in the U.S. and India to support current operations and expansion projects.
Valero Energy Corp. on April 25 announced that its SAF project in Texas is progressing ahead of schedule and expected to be operational this year. The company also reported its ethanol and renewable diesel operations were profitable during Q1.
Vertex Energy Inc. on April 18 announced the renewable diesel production unit at its refinery in Mobile, Alabama, operated at approximately 50% of nameplate capacity during the first quarter of 2024, in line with the company’s previous forecasts.
Calumet Specialty Products Partners L.P. on April 16 released a Q1 operational update, reporting that its Montana Renewables biorefinery operated well throughout the three-month period, with production volumes sequentially improved each month.
A biorefinery in Sweden developed as a joint venture between Nordic energy group St1 and Swedish forest products company SCA on April 10 commenced commercial operations to produce SAF, renewable diesel, and biobased naphtha and LPG.
New Rise Renewables on April 9 announced work is underway to convert its existing renewable diesel plant located near Reno, Nevada, to sustainable aviation fuel (SAF). SAF production is currently expected to commence this summer.
Phillips 66 on April 1 announced that its Rodeo refinery in San Francisco has commenced commercial production of renewable diesel. The facility is expected to begin producing SAF components during the second quarter of this year.
The U.S. EPA on March 21 released updated RIN data, reporting that nearly 2.02 billion RINs were generated under the RFS in February, up from 1.91 billion generated the previous month and 1.76 billion generated in February of last year.

Ethanol Producer Magazine announced this week the preliminary agenda for the 2024 International Fuel Ethanol Workshop & Expo (FEW) taking place June 10-12, 2024 at the Minneapolis Convention Center in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
Tidewater Renewables Ltd. on March 14 announced that its 3,000-barrel-per-day renewable diesel facility in Prince George, British Columbia, is currently operating at near nameplate capacity. Work is also progressing on proposed plans to produce SAF.
Aemetis Inc. released fourth quarter financial results on March 7, reporting the company achieved important milestones in its biodiesel, RNG, ethanol, SAF and carbon capture business segments last year.
Chevron Renewable Energy Group has idled its biodiesel plants located in Ralston, Iowa, and Madison, Wisconsin. A company spokesperson confirmed that the two facilities will be closed indefinitely, citing poor market conditions.

Calumet: Montana Renewables operating at near capacity, work continues on proposed MaxSAF initiative
Calumet released Q4 financial results on Feb. 23, announcing that Montana Renewables returned to normal operations in December following the replacement of a cracked steam drum and providing an update of the company’s proposed MaxSAF initiative.
CVR Energy Inc. released Q4 results on Feb. 20, reporting that the feedstock pretreatment unit at its Wynnewood refinery in Oklahoma is mechanically complete. The company is also continuing to evaluate projects to add SAF capacity at two refineries.
PBF Energy Inc. released fourth quarter financial results on Feb. 15, reporting that the company’s St. Bernard Renewables (SBR) facility produced approximately 12,000 barrels per day of renewable diesel during the three-month period.
More than 1.89 billion renewable identification numbers (RINs) were generated under the Renewable Fuel Standard in January, up from 1.76 billion generated during the same month of 2023, according to a data released by the U.S. EPA on Feb. 15.
In 2023, Iowa biodiesel production kept steady at 350 million gallons, nearly the same as the 349 million gallons produced in 2022. Soybean oil increased to 77 percent of the feedstock for Iowa biodiesel production during the year.
