Energy Information Administration releases monthly stats
The U.S. Energy Information Administration released its latest monthly biodiesel statistics Feb. 27. According to the administration, U.S. biodiesel producers manufactured 97 million gallons of fuel in November 2011, which is equal to the figures reported for the prior month. Total U.S. biodiesel production for the first 11 months of 2011 is reported to be 742 million gallons, which is a significant increase over the 292 million gallons produced during the same period of 2010.
According to the EIA, imports dropped during November to 66,000 barrels. In October the U.S. imported 82,000 barrels of biodiesel. Approximately 628,000 barrels of biodiesel was imported during the first 11 months of 2011. This is an increase over the 512,000 barrels recorded for the same period of 2010.
Exports in November held almost steady when compared to the prior month. The U.S. reportedly exported 131,000 barrels of biodiesel in November, down slightly from the 132,000 barrels exported in October. Total exports for the first 11 months of 2011 are estimated to be 1.7 million barrels. This is a significant decrease when compared to the 2.4 million barrels of biodiesel that were exported during the same period of 2010.
According to the EIA, the U.S. consumed 96 million gallons of biodiesel in November, which is an increase over the 83 million gallons reportedly consumed in October. Total consumption for the first 11 months of 2011 was 664 million gallons. The comparable consumption level for the same period of 2010 was 215 million gallons.
