AMERIgreen plans Energy Independence Convoy

Pennsylvania-based fuel dealer AMERIgreen Energy Inc. is hosting its Energy Independence Convoy on Aug. 25. As part of the event, a convoy of elected representatives and officials and representatives of businesses committed to using domestically produced fuels will travel in a convoy from Mt. McHenry to Independence Mall for a ceremonial reading and signing of the Declaration of American Energy Independence.

The event, which is modeled after the signing of the U.S. Declaration of Independence, aims to raise awareness and encourage participation in the effort to decrease American dependence on foreign oil and increase our nation’s use of renewable fuels. Wesley Clark, an energy independence advocate and retired U.S. Army four-star general, will deliver a keynote address during the event. His speech will take place at People’s Plaza in Independence National Historical Park.

According to AMERIgreen Marketing Director Doug May, the event is targeting a wide variety of people involved in the biofuels and renewable energy industries. “We are interested in anybody who is interested in and committed to causes that help America decrease [its] dependence on foreign oil,” he said. “That includes all of the biofuels industry. It also includes alternative fuels, and we realize there are many solutions to this problem that we welcome everyone.”

May says the declaration states that it is time for our nation to get serious about the issue of energy independence. Rather than a specific call to action, he says that goal is to get people involved in the discussion of energy independence and demonstrate to our elected officials that the public is serious about reducing our dependence on foreign sources of energy. “It talks about…reducing oil imports and using more domestic energy, renewable energy and that kind of thing, says AMERIgreen Marketing Director Aubrey Bauman. “

Members of the public who wish to participate in the event are encouraged to visit the event’s website. Those who are unable to attend the convoy can also get involved by signing an online petition associated with the event.
