Nevada-based Renewable Fuel Corp., a producer, blender and distributor of biodiesel and blended fuels in North America, announced Sept. 25 the acquisition of Bio Refining Industries Inc., which includes two Indonesian biodiesel projects, licenses and plant properties.

The facilities, which are still in early development stages, will have a combined capacity of 120 MMgy. The B100 biodiesel will be produced from crude palm oil and jatropha-which will be sourced locally, or from the Southeast Asian region through a primary international shipping route which the projects were strategically located adjacent to.

Chairman of Renewable Fuel William Van Vliet said the acquisition is an important addition in the company's strategy to build a diverse worldwide green fuel company. "As chairman, I intend to pursue a strategy of creating one of the most advanced vertical providers in the biodiesel and biofuel industries," he said. "With these new biodiesel facilities, we are well positioned to fulfill this strategy."

Besides the newly acquired Indonesian projects, Renewable Fuel owns a 60 MMgy biodiesel production facility in Malaysia, which uses crude palm oil and jatropha as feedstocks.

Renewable Fuel is in the process of creating a distribution system, using its own facilities, as well as leased ones, to distribute biodiesel. According to Renewable Fuel, it will deliver its B2, B5, B10, B20 and B100 biodiesel blends directly to the United States when the distribution system is in place. As well, the company plans to offer the system within the industry to help other companies distribute and increase availability of renewable fuels to consumers and businesses.
