NBF elects REG's Lindsay Fitzgerald to executive committee

By The National Biodiesel Foundation | July 01, 2016

The National Biodiesel Foundation unanimously elected Lindsay Fitzgerald of Renewable Energy Group Inc. to its executive committee during the June board meeting in Washington, D.C. The NBF is designed to advanced initiatives important to the commercial biodiesel industry.

“I am excited to be a part of such an amazing foundation that focuses on biodiesel research and education,” said Fitzgerald after being elected. “Over the past several years, REG has been a constant supporter and donor to the foundation, and I have seen the benefits first hand. Now is a perfect opportunity to become fully involved in the NBF’s daily activities and decision making.”

Fitzgerald is based out of Washington, D.C., and joins the NBF on behalf of REG. Prior to joining REG, she worked on renewable fuel standard implementation at the National Biodiesel Board as director of regulatory affairs, and before that at the U.S. EPA.

“We thank Lindsay and REG for volunteering her time and experience to the Foundation,” said Mike Cunningham, NBF president. “We look forward to working with her over the next several years. Through donations to the foundation, we are able to support important research and educational activities needed for biodiesel’s growth.”

The National Biodiesel Foundation is a nonprofit organization that works closely with the biodiesel industry trade association, the National Biodiesel Board, for the advancement of biodiesel. Through outreach, education, research, and demonstration activities, the foundation works to address national issues affecting us all—clean air, economic development for rural communities, and enhanced national security through energy independence.

Made from an increasingly diverse mix of resources such as soybean oil, recycled cooking oil, and animal fats, biodiesel is a renewable, clean-burning diesel replacement that can be used in existing diesel engines without modification. It is the nation’s first domestically produced, commercially available advanced biofuel.
