Bankrupt BioEnergy of America Inc. and two affiliated Colorado biodiesel plants are being dismantled and sold to satisfy creditors. A judge dismissed bankruptcy proceedings Feb. 25, two months after the company filed for Chapter 11 protection. BioEnergy of America was building an 80 MMgy plant in Edison, N.J., when a major funding source backed out in January 2007. Construction was one-third complete. The Colorado plants, producing a total of 18 MMgy, were partial collateral for the financing and were seized in the proceedings.
