Gov. Rod Blagojevich announced $25 million in new grants to construct five biodiesel and ethanol plants in Illinois. Biofuels Company of America LLC will receive $4.8 million for a new 45 MMgy biodiesel production facility near Danville, and Stepan Company will receive $3 million for the expansion of its current biodiesel plant near Elwood, which will increase production from 10 MMgy to 49 MMgy. Together, the new facilities are expected to produce 225 MMgy of biofuels and create 150 new jobs.
