USDA on March 8 celebrated the second annual National Biobased Products Day, a celebration to raise public awareness of biobased products, their benefits and their contributions to the U.S. economy and rural communities.
Sens. Amy Klobuchar, D-Minn., and Jerry Moran, R-Kan., on Oct. 26 announced the introduction of a bill that aims to update the USDA’s Biorefinery, Renewable Chemical and Biobased Products Assistance loan guarantee program.

Neste has entered a cooperation with Suntory, ENEOS and Mitsubishi Corp. to enable the production of PET (polyethylene terephthalate) resin made with renewable Neste RE on a commercial scale. Neste RE is made from 100 percent biobased materials.
The Canadian government on Aug. 30 announced it is investing up to $5.3 million in an initiative that aims to support the development of biomass supply chains and cutting-edge technologies to produce biomass and value-added agricultural products.
